Cortland County reports 8 new cases of coronavirus
Cortland County reported eight new confirmed COVID-19 cases Wednesday, raising the number of confirmed cases to 245 — 153 new cases since Aug. 21.
In all, 886 cases have been confirmed in Cayuga, Tompkins and Cortland counties and five people have died.
The Cortland County Health Department was monitoring 186 patients, 40 of them confirmed positive. None were hospitalized, although six have been. The Cortland County Health Department has received 25,802 negative test results. Two hundred five people have recovered. The county has reported no deaths.
Tompkins County reported four new cases Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases rising to 421, according to the state Health Department. A total of 168,931 people were tested. Two people have died.
In Cayuga County, the state Health Department reported one new case Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases rising to 220. The state reports 37,729 people have been tested. Three people have died.
SUNY Cortland’s cases at 163
SUNY Cortland reported nine new confirmed case of coronavirus Wednesday, bringing the total to 163 since students began returning for the fall semester, 42 of them currently positive, the college reported Wednesday evening.
